Topic: A Christmas Carol and Descriptive Writing
- Pupils will study the novel A Christmas Carol in preparation for their GCSE examination. Pupils will acquire a sound knowledge of the plot, characters and the themes presented throughout the novel. Pupils will also develop an awareness of the play’s context and learn how to effectively analyse its implications on the text.

- Pupils will study a selection of poems from the Power and Conflict anthology. Pupils will become familiar with their content, context and overall impact on their audience through the analysis of both language and structure. Pupils will begin to compare poetry based on themes and intent.
