At Little Lever School we are dedicated to ensuring that pupils continue to receive a high-quality education, even when they are unable to attend school in person.
Remote education will be provided in the occurrence of; full or partial school closure, if an individual pupil cannot attend but is well enough to learn from home, whether that is for one day or a more prolonged, long term absence.
In these circumstances students must follow Oak Academy online lessons which underpin our own curriculum. Here's how to do this.
- Pupils must follow their timetabled lessons each day, that is three 90-minute sessions - Session 1 starts at 9.10am, Session 2 at 11am, Session 3 at 1pm
- Click this Oak Academy link Year listing | Oak National Academy to access their website.
- The home page will ask you to choose which year group the pupil is in - select the relevant year group.
- Choose the subject area which the pupil has at that time of day.
- Look through the topics which are listed in the subject areas and choose one that the pupil is currently studying.
- In each topic area there are groups of lessons to access. Choose which groups of lessons to study.
- The screen will open up to a lesson with a knowledge check, starter task, video lesson and a low stakes quiz.
The video below shows an example of a Year 9 Maths Oak Academy lesson on how to access it. The video has no sound.
Along with Oak Academy lessons, we also have our Need To Know Books which contain the essential knowledge students need to know to be successful in our curriculum.
By using Need To Know Books pupils will be able to transfer their knowledge from their short-term memory and make it stick. Within all lessons, pupils will be asked to retrieve knowledge from their long-term memory. This might be in the form of quizzes or longer responses. These might require pupils to use lots of information they have already stored from previous lessons and from their own life experiences. These Need To Know Books (NTKB) will help you to check how much you can remember. Further, we encourage pupils to work through our Need To Know Books, which are available for each year group covering all subjects.
How to use NTKB: when a student is off school, the student must follow their timetable for the day, go to the subject page of the NTKB for each session, and create the flash cards and work through the retrieval practice questions.

Please see below the Need-To-Know-Book for each year group.
