Together, as a team of pupils and adults Team Little Lever created a very clear core purpose for everyone...

‘To help every person achieve things they never thought they could’

This is the reason we all come to school everyday to help ourselves and others achieve things they never thought they could.  To give everyone that magic feeling of success.  Whether that takes place in a subject lesson, an enrichment activity, representing one of our sporting teams, playing in our musical assembles, being involved in one of our drama productions or taking part in one of our charity fundraising events everyone has the chance to achieve things they never thought they could!

Together we also created a set of values that underpin our purpose:

  • Be Kind
  • Work Hard
  • Take Responsibility

We all agreed that if we followed these values we would instill qualities and characteristics in everyone that would benefit our community, our society and the world in which we live.

Everything we do in our school revolves around our values

Our staff community created the Little Lever Way.  This is a vivid description of our commitment to the children and families we serve:

We put pupils first and will ignite a desire to succeed in every person no matter who they are or where they come from.  We will transform every child’s life and raise their aspirations.  We will build self worth and confidence for the children in our care so they can stand as equals among any social circle and are ready to take their place in the world.

We will be relentless in meeting students’ needs, ensuring no child is held back and no child is left behind.

We will never give up on any individual and will ensure every child is known and feels valued

Little Lever students will feel proud of their school, their community and their achievements.

Little Lever staff will feel valued and proud of the job they do.  They will be solution focussed and nationally recognised for their creative, collaborative and innovative ways to help children achieve things they never thought they could.

We will ensure we provide the highest standards of Professional Development so every member of staff has the opportunity to become the best teacher, teaching assistant, support staff, admin staff or site staff they can be.

We will ensure all our pupils understand how following our values are the best ways to support themselves and other pupils to achieve great things.

We will work collaboratively with all our parents in the way they challenge and support the school.

We will co-construct our curriculum, policies and practices with our pupils, parents and the wider community

We will be humble enough to know we do not always have the answers, but we search the local, national and global educational landscape to find the solutions.

Everything we do is focussed on helping every person achieve things they never thought they could.

This is the Little Lever Way!

As a result of our relentless focus on our culture and quality first teaching our pupils achieve strong GCSE outcomes year after year.  In 2025 57% of students achieved Grade 5+ in English and mathematics.  With the national average at approximately 46% Little Lever is now not simply one of the most improved schools in the country but is one of the top performing schools in Bolton and the North West.

This is a real testament to the hard work of our brilliant students, the wonderful parents and carers we have and the relentless work of our brilliant staff who will always go above and beyond to help.

We are delighted to be a Teach First Partner school.  Our expert teachers at Little Lever are helping strengthen the pedagogy and practice for future generations of teachers across the North West.

We are very proud that leaders at our school have been recognized for both national and local awards and it is a testament to the support they offer, not just to children at Little Lever but to a range of other schools and organisations across the North West.

Things are getting bigger and better!

We are very excited about the school’s expansion plans.  We are currently completing phase 1 of our expansion plans. This will extend the canteen area so all our students have an enormous space in which to enjoy their social time at break and lunch.  We will also be designing this space to have a variety of different offers for students so they can enjoy a range of different dinning experiences and foods from across the world.  We want our students to enjoy restaurant standard experiences and create a warm and relaxed environment where students can enjoy their social time.

Phase 2 will start as soon as Phase 1 has finished.  This will be the construction of a new 9 classroom two storey block at the front of school.  This will provide state of the art learning facilities for our students.  It will also provide better access and improved exit and entry points for students so their arrival and departure from school protects them from the busy main road outside of the school.

We will be able to offer 240 pupil places for each year group.

Finally, we wanted to celebrate the wonderful news that Little Lever was voted ‘School of the Year’ in the recent Bolton News awards. This is an award that we are all very proud of, but is an award that is a symbol of all the hard work and effort of our pupils, our staff and the support and feedback we receive from our parents and carers.

There are exciting times ahead for Little Lever!!

Kind regards

Mr Mckeon
