Little Lever Debate Team are Champions!

Yesterday afternoon, a mixed debating team comprising pupils from Year 7, 8, and 9 went to Ladybridge High School to participate in a fixture comprised of three debates (one prepared and two impromptu). After a series of fiery speeches supporting child labour, advocating the superiority of TV over books, and passionately defending the teaching profession against the upcoming AI revolution, some flamboyant gesticulations by the debate team, as well as some probing questions directed exclusively at the opposition by Little Lever's travelling fan, the panel of three judges decided in our favour by the lofty margin of 2-1.

For all the cynicisms and falsehoods and greed that surround politics, the art of debate itself is honest and its appeal wholly uncomplicated. That isn't to say that it is simple, so much as to say that the things we derive from it: the glimpses of eloquence, confidence, and the assertion of one's will over another, are authentic and pure. On Wednesday afternoon, however, the Little Lever Debate Team made it look easy.

The school is incredibly proud the following student and their extraordinary success:

Thomas Ramsden, Phoebe Alston-Forrester, Sophie Alston-Forrester, Amelia Stuchbury, Jessica Colgan, Daisy Wall, Sophia Magari, and Nicole Lomas.
