Bus Travel Pass Information

Transport for Greater Manchester has been in touch with us and asked us to share their arrangements for applying for Travel Passes for bus transport to and from school for the next academic year.

At TfGM, we know that for parents there is plenty to prepare ahead of the resumption of school in September.

Applying for your child’s travel pass is one of the many things to tick off the list, so why not get it out of the way and have one less thing to worry about come term time?

We are doing all we can to reduce application processing time for Our Pass and igo, as the last thing we’d want is to see is a backlog causing delays or children to be without their travel passes. To do this, we need your help – if you need to apply for a pass for your child, you can avoid any potential delay by applying now.

There are two passes available for students:

  • Our Pass – for 16–18-year-olds offering free bus travel on most local bus services across Greater Manchester

The pass makes it easier for young people to access education, work, training, culture and leisure in the city-region. It also provides access to a range of exclusive offers, discounts and experiences.

The Our Pass application portal, for the 2023-24 academic year, opened in May but to date we have only received 20% of expected applications.

The application portal and all information on the pass can be found at Get Our Pass – Our Pass.

  • igo pass – for 11–16-year-olds to travel using child tickets on buses and trams in Greater Manchester

Information on how to apply can be found on the TfGM website: igo card | Transport for Greater Manchester (tfgm.com).

If you have any questions, they can call our customer services team on 0161 244 1000 between 7am-8pm Monday-Friday and 8am-8pm on weekends and Bank Holidays.
