Progress Star Awards

Another new award we are launching this year is our Progress Star Awards. These awards are nominated by staff to students who have made significant improvements in all aspects of school life – step targets progress, attendance, effort, our habits, etc. Nominees receive 5 points and a Progress Star badge to wear on their blazer with pride!

We are delighted to share with you our first set of nominees…

Kane Rostron Year 10

Kane has been nominated by several staff:

Ms Ainsworth, TA writes; “As his key worker I have to set targets for him to achieve in each lesson. Currently he is surpassing these and inclusion colleagues/teachers alike are recognising this on a large scale. A maturity towards learning and managing his behaviour has emerged on a consistent basis. I am nominating him as I feel he deserves recognition for this.”

Ms Fletcher, TA writes; “I would like to nominate Kane Rostron for the Progress Stars award. Kane is turning into a lovely respectful, hard work young man. His attitude towards learning has taken a 360 over the past 6 to 12 months and he is now engaging and excelling in most of his lessons. Kane was unable to stay in a full lesson just 12 months ago, his attitude and work ethic is now amazing. He can still have moments but he uses his coping mechanisms and is able to self calm, and remains in lesson. I BELIEVE he deserves recognition for this, and I think it will boost his self confidence and encourage him to keep up the good work, and attitude towards learning.”

Mr Barry, Assistant Leader of Maths writes; “I would like to nominate Kane Rostron in Maths as he has come on so much in terms of both attitude and progress this year. He has turned into a role model in the class and constantly exceeds expectation.”

Layla Platt Year 11

Ms Grellier, Leader of History writes; “Layla’s attendance, effort and engagement in History since Year 10 has been a delight to see and she has made every effort to improve in all these areas.”

Angel Machin Year 10

Ms Grellier, Leader of History writes; “Angel’s attendance, effort and engagement in History since Year 10 has massively improved and she has tried really hard to improve in all these areas.”

Nicha Miller Year 10

Ms Grellier, Leader of History writes; “Nicha’s attendance, effort and engagement in History in Year 10 has massively improved and she has tried really hard to improve in all these areas.”

Mr Cordwell, Assistant Principal writes; “When Nicha is able to join her photogrpahy lessons, her progress with her work is always brilliant to see and she tries to best to catch-up on the work she has missed. Keep it going, Nicha!”

Jake Lane, Laura Melbourne, Mia Greenshields, Toby Belfield and Joshua Poynton

Mr Poole, Leader of Arts writes; “These students have made excellent progress with their performance and ensemble skills by forming their own Rock Band. The progress they have made has been astonishing in such a short space of time. We can’t wait to hear their first performance in the school Christmas concert.”

Reece Winter-Hardman and Sophie Rose

Mr Poole, Leader of Arts writes; “Reece and Sophie have been attending before and after school sessions voluntarily to work on their performance skills. They have made fantastic progress, well done!”
